PET recycling process from Coopbox has been approved.

The European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) has approved the PET recycling process of Coopbox (EU register No RECYC129) which is based on the Starlinger Decon technology. PET input comes from collected post-consumer PET bottles, containing no more than 5% of PET from non-food consumer applications.
The decontamination efficiency of this process was demonstrated by a challenge test and the results showed that the level of migration of potential unknown contaminants into food is below of 0.1 microg/kg food. Therefore, it was concluded that recycled PET from Coopbox can be considered safe for its use in food contact materials. |
