FLEXPETTM and FLEXMETPROTECTTM, melamine-free BOPET films with advanced properties.
09/26/2016

Melamine, a synthetic triazine compound and an organic base is known to impart scratch, wear and puncture resistance to packaging films thereby enhancing the strength of the ensuing laminate structure, but the cons of the compound over weigh its pros. The contamination of food with melamine and its analogue cyanuric acid produces kidney failure.

To respond to amid growing clamour from western food and beverages brands for melamine free packaging, Uflex Limited and Solution Company has developed FLEXPETTM and FLEXMETPROTECTTM (Grade F-AMF); Melamine Free Acrylic Coated Bi-axially Oriented Polyethylene Terephthalate (BOPET). The film exhibits good transparency and clarity along with excellent machinability and handling properties. One side primer coating provides emphatic adhesion with inks and adhesives. The acrylic coated surface is also recommended for surface printing. The other side of film surface can be corona treated for value addition. The film possesses good mechanical, surface & thermal properties and ensuring excellent processability and they are finding extensive use in conversion, printing, hot fill, retort, pasteurisation and sterilisation among other applications.
