Improving plastic biodegradation.
12/14/2016

Currently not all plastic material is recycled and much of it ends up in landfills, or in nature . Given the slow biodegradation of plastic in nature, it can become an element with an environmental impact.

In order to reduce this problem, the company Plásticos Industriales de Alfarrasí (PICDA) and ainia are developing the project entitled BIOLOGICAL PROCESS FOR THE DEGRADATION OF PLASTIC WASTE THROUGH SPECIFIC MICROORGANISMS (PLASBIO).

The objective is to reduce the generation of plastic waste in landfill through the development of biotechnological processes. The project is in the middle of the project s, seeking to increase the rate of biodegradation of polymers by the use of specific microorganisms.
