EFSA updates the criteria for the recycling of PET

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has updated the criteria for toxicological evaluation of processes for producing recycled PET intended to be used for manufacture of materials and articles in contact with food.
The new EFSA opinion explains how to evaluate the health risk of any contamination in recycled PET process taking into account the cleaning efficiency of recycling technology or process.
Besides, the evaluation takes into account the migration of pollutants through the recycled PET in order to ensure the exposition dose is insignificant. |
