AINIA develops a new tray for fresh food with 90% less plastic

AINIA has developed a tray for fresh food composed of 90% cardboard which is 100% recyclable. It is coated with a thin layer of film and can be used for the packaging and preservation of fresh meats, fish, fruits and vegetables, pizzas, yoghurts or sausages.
The tray is distributed in a flat format composed of different layers, and is thermoformed just before its use. This introduces important logistical advantages and reduces the costs derived from transport and storage. Moreover, it does not require additional packaging costs, since conventional traysealers from the food industries can be used. The sealing edge is completely flat and uniform, which enables packaging in MAP, vacuum or skin. |
